 |
|
The Pocosin Arts Gallery is now exhibiting Hometown Artists, featuring the work of those currently creating art through Pocosin Arts programs. Artists invited to exhibit include members of the Carving Club and Hand-building Guild, students in the after-school Pottery and Nature Drawing Classes, and adult students in the wheel-throwing class. The exhibit will be up from Tuesday, October 7th through Saturday, October 18th. A reception and various demonstrations by the hometown artists will take place during the Scuppernong River Festival, October 11, 2008.
Pocosin Arts continues to offer a variety of educational programs for children and adults. The Carving Club meets on Tuesday evenings and always welcomes new members. The Hand-building Guild meets on Monday evenings. An adult wheel throwing class is offered on Thursday evenings. Regular children’s programs include Pottery and Dance after-school classes (Pottery on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dance on Fridays). There is still space for new students in both Pottery and Dance. Pocosin Arts is also offering the final fall season after-school Nature Drawing program in partnership with Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. The class meets at the Refuge Visitor Center on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 pm. Hilary Anderson teaches drawing skills in charcoal, colored pencil and oil pastels with the wealth of native plants and wildlife along the Scuppernong River boardwalk as subject. A four-week drawing session is $30, supplies included. Scholarships are available for families in need. Session 2: October 22, 29, November 5, and 12. Stop by Pocosin Arts or call during the following Gallery hours to register for classes:
