Pocosin Arts' host Jewelry Exhibit and Bead-Making Workshops |

Saturday March 14th and Sunday March 15th, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm join Kathryn Osgood for a two-day metal bead-making workshop working with sterling, copper, and/or brass exploring techniques including roll printing, stamping, soldering, riveting, stone setting & piercing to make unique one-of-a-kind beads. All skill levels are welcome - some soldering experience is helpful. Tuition: $140. Please call to register by Friday, March 6th. Suggested materials: hand tools (jeweler’s saw, files, etc. if you have them – tools will be available for student use), 22 gauge sterling silver, brass, or copper sheet (instructor will have some material available for sale), and wire or tubing (some will be available for sale). Kathryn Osgood is a studio artist and assistant professor at College of The Albemarle in Manteo, North Carolina. She is a jeweler, enamellist, and metalsmith, whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She received her Master of Fine Arts degree in metal and jewelry design from East Carolina University. Her jewelry is inspired by the flora and fauna of her coastal environment. Her work is published in The Art of Enameling, 500 Necklaces, 500 Earrings, 1000 Rings, and Contemporary Enameling: Art and Techniques. Scholarships are available to help individuals in need of assistance in covering the tuition costs of the workshop. Call or stop by Pocosin Arts to apply. In the Pocosin Arts Gallery, A Jewelry Exhibit continues through March 21st. This exhibit includes a diversity of work by the following artists: Marlene True, Marion Sak, and Shand Stamper, recent graduates of the ECU College of Design; Kathryn Osgood, Assistant Professor at College of the Albemarle in Manteo; Peggy Wilson of Harbor Jewelers, Miriam Fauth of Columbia, Valda Belyeu of Washington, Bruce Barnett of Edenton, Alice Vest Bateman of Roper, Nancy Blass Winn of Greenville, Carolyn Sleeper of Washington, and Ben and Kathryn Stewart of the Silver Bonsai Gallery, Manteo. Most of the work on display in the gallery is for sale.
